Market of the Year Awards Winners
Winners of this year’s National Association of British Markets Authorities 'Market of the Year' awards were announced today, at the annual NABMA conference in Birmingham.
Market Manager, Tony Howes and Director and trader, Rose Berwick were at the ceremony to accept a trophy on behalf of Hitchin Market for the Best Private Operator in Britain. A record number of entries this year, meant the competition was tough but judges were looking for good practice, new initiatives and evidence of working together to weather the challenges of the worst recession on record. Apart from online voting, the panel of judges visited each market nominated to look for what made them special and were impressed by the changes and improvements made to our historic market.
Huge congratulations and thank you to; Tony, Annette and Charlotte in the Market Office for all their hard work; to Hitchin Market traders for their continued support in these difficult times; to the Board of Directors for their commitment to improving the market for all and last but not least to Derek and his team for keeping the market clean, tidy and snow and ice free.
