Grime Busters!
As part of the BID’s ‘Clean and Gleam’ manifesto commitment,
a private contractor has been deployed to deep steam clean
sections of pavement within the BID boundary. After the first
nine steaming sessions we’ve had very positive reactions to the
improvements achieved. A bonus for passers-by is the cleaning
process itself - seen in direct sunlight it’s ethereally pretty!
Our Rangers also undertake additional specialist cleaning each
month. And they’ve contributed to huge improvements made to
graffiti targets Munts Alley and Aram’s Alley (they run between
the High Street and Churchyard). The lighting has been improved
and both have been decorated with anti-graffiti paint. This work
is just the start of an anti-graffiti drive aimed at catching the
culprits.
In Brand Street, the old Sainsbury’s doorway has been an
eyesore for years - grubby, un-maintained and often full of
rubbish and other blown-in debris. An attractive photomontage,
commissioned and erected by the BID team, covers and
transforms this previously neglected area.
